yes, the service startup types should be the same for all nodes within a cluster

Raghu, does this answer your question? If not, could you elaborate, as I'm not sure I completly understand.

Thankyou Mike,
I configured Exchange with Clustering with 2 nodes. By accessing virtual IP(Cluster IP) I am able to access e-mails.
Coming to the monitoring part.
All the required exchange services was running in Active node. But in Passive node few were not running while monitoring the passive node iam getting alerts on these services in passive mode.
My doubt is if active node failed, passive node will become ACTIVE. So in this process will the necessry services will started or not (in New active node?
Thanks

Hi Raghu, Assuming that you are using Exchange 2003, The Exchange services on Passive node should be down while the EVS is on Active node. if you would have noticed, the Exchange services which are part of cluster resources are set to start manually. it means that the Cluster service is going to start these services whenever the fail-over occurs. Regarding monitoring you should monitor the services with Virtual servers (EVS) IP address instead of individual server. whenever the EVS is failing over. the Virtual IP or EVS will be shifted to the node who ever is going to be active. so monitoring individual server doesn't make sense. The same is true in Exchange 2007 as well but are managed by Powershell instead of Cluster Admin. Thanks.
