Exchange delivery for internal mail only (exchange 2003)
Sorry if this is a dumb question but is it possible to setup exchange 2003 so it will only deliver local email. As in if users with mailboxes on the exchange server sends an email to user@domain.local it will be delivered but if sent to any external email address user@gmail.com it would be denied? If this is not possible with exchange 2003, looking forward is it possible with exchange 2010? Thanks

If you install exchnage server and you do not configure the SMTP connector the mails there will be no mail flow to any remote domain. The mails will only be delivered to the local domain of the exchange org. Also if you require to restrict only a few users from sending mails to external address you can create a group in AD with such users as the members and configure the restriction on the SMTP connector for this group. Ok tested that and it works however the users don't get an NDR and the mail seems to just sit in the que. Is there a way it can be rejected and the user gets and NDR?
