Exchange management console opens slow
Hello!
Our server is running w2k3 R2 SP2 with exchange 2007 sp1. Our problem is that it takes forever open up the exchange management console on the server. It doesn't matter if it's peak hour or after hour..it always take long time to open up. Are we the only ones with this problem or is there a way to speed this up?`
Regards
Henrik

Hi,
You don't write how long time forever is, but yes I see along startup time for the exchange management console. I believe that this is a feature of MMC 3.0

HI Leif!
It takes around 50-55 seconds before the console is running and you are able to start working with it.

Ok, I think I found a way to speed things up. I changed the default number of recients that are loaded when the snapin is started. That did a big difference on the startup speed.

Another method of speeding up PowerShell 1.0: http://blogs.msdn.com/powershell/archive/2008/09/02/speeding-up-powershell-startup-updating-update-gac-ps1.aspxMVP | MCSE:M | MCITP: Enterprise Messaging Administrator | MCTS: OCS + Voice Specialization | http://www.shudnow.net

Yes, this worked like a charm. The system was set to display 1000 recipients. When I reset it to display only 70 recipients (for a 60-user office) the management console came up quite quickly.
In the EMC, you right click on Recipient Configuration and the choice is right there in the context menu.
