Exchange migration and outlook problems

Hi all!

I`ve just completed migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 CU9.

We have really huge problems with outlook 2013 clients all of them are on latest version.

Problem is, that performance is really terrible. Tried with HTTP/RPC and with MAPI, same thing.

OWA works just fine and is super fast. I don`t know what I did wrong during migration but we can`t use Outlook, or better said, we can but on local network or outside of company performance is really crappy...

I cheched certificates, DNS, autodiscover all seems to be in order.

Any idea where to start troubleshooting?

Greg

Is the performance issue affecting only External clients which you have moved mailbox's from 2007 to 2013 ? if yes

This can be due to the Offline address book downloading which can cause the outlook to freeze.

Hi!

Thanks for response.

No this is happening to every single client no matter if it is external or internal. We have outlooks configured to use users mailbox and then they have 5 additional mailboxes added.

On Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2013 (so before migration) Outlook started in 10 seconds now it takes 45 seconds to start and then it is very slow, sometimes I also cannot open additional mailboxes that are added.

This turned out to be MAPI over HTTP problem.

If I use RPC things go back to normal.

Why is MAPI over HTTP so slow in this case? I have 2 othere Exchange 2013 where MAPI over http is really fast...

Hi,

I noticed there are 5 additional mailboxes opened for this problematic user. Please confirm whether these 5 mailboxes have been moved to Exchange 2013.

Addtionally, please confirm whether you cached all folders for these 5 additional mailboxes. We can check the following settings:

1.On the File tab, click Account Settings in the Account Settings list.
2.In the Account Settings dialog box, click the E-mail tab and then double-click your Microsoft Exchange Server account.
3.In the Change Account dialog box, click More Settings.
4.In the Microsoft Exchange dialog box, click the Advanced tab.
5.Click to clear the Download shared folders check box.

Hi!

All mailboxes are on 2013, 2007 was already removed.
I don`t cache anything, outlook is in online mode.

Hmmm RPC over HTTP is working just fine, this seems to be the problem with MAPI over HTTP only...

If I disable it and Outlook reverts to RPC over HTTP (Outlook anywhere) things are OK...

What could cause MAPI o HTTP to fail so bad?

Now even with MAPI over http in use, all mailboxes connect fine but are frequently disconnected and reconnected, exchange event log is empty...

Hmmm OK I`ve checked MAPI logs and this is what I get:

But it is strange because sometimes it is working just fine, some times not.

RPC over HTTP works perfectly from inside and outside.

Any idea?
