Exchange on SBS2003, disconnected SMTP mailbox?
I'm not sure because I'm not on site at the moment. I'm there in the morning and I hope to try a few things then, would changing the alias help? It's SBS so unfortunately I can't make a new message store and transfer the mailboxes.

I doubt if changing the alias will help. It is very hard to say what will fix the issue. If things work from OWA, then just tell the users not to use nickname entries for internal users but select them from the GAL fresh. The problem isn't just with internal users. Any emails that come in using the pop3 connector make it as far as the local delivery queue and then get stuck there. Also, no emails seem to go out.

Can't help with the POP3 connector as I never use it. I can therefore only suggest that you run the Connect to the Internet and Configure Email wizard (or whatever it is called) and ensure that it completes successfully. Ultimately you may have to get someone in to look at the server as it is hard to tell exactly what was done. With NT4 involved with SBS you have some kind of odd configuration which may have been forced in which has upset SBS, which likes to be managed in a certain way. A company I support had an old NT4 domain they were using but the server died. They also had a SBS2003 server that they seemed to be only using for exchange. I removed the users from the now non-existent NT4 domain and onto the SBS2003 domain. Everyone is connected to the new domain and connected to exchange but emails are getting stuck in the local delivery queue. I read this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/828938 but it seems to be a bit over my head. I've never used the LDP tool before and I can't work out how to search etc. and I'm not even sure if this is the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks tooner

If they are using nicknames to select the users then Exchange might be getting confused. If they send an email from OWA to another internal user, does it work then? Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? Hire Me.
