Exchange online maintenance question (2007 sp3)
I have a situation where I have several servers with many large databases which I cannot effectively get more than 1 online maintenance cycle a week out of, and I am trying to use my established maintenance window to it's fullest extent.
For instance, I have a window from 4am on Saturday until 7am Monday for which I can run online maintenance. I set time such that all my storage groups run back to back to back in chunks from 4-10 hours depending on size.
BUT. I have a desire for the online defrag to run once to completion, then kick off the next job. As it is now, say, during my 4 hour window, a particular job will take 3 hr and 20 minutes, then start a whole new complete pass. I would like the jobs to just
stop after 1 complete pass (or a completed resumed pass) and then not start off another run. AND as an added bonus, be able to kick off the next job so I have zero time "wasted".
Is this doable? I am really struggling with my maintenance windows. And please do not suggest just putting all the jobs on the same schedule, that just does not work. Most of my servers have 10 storage groups/databases and stacking them just left me in a
situation where jobs were taking over a month to complete.
