I checked the RPC logs on the CAS servers but I am not sure what to look for. Any ideas what errors to look for in the logs that are related to Directory services?

Yes. We have 4 CAS servers behind a HW firewall. Their CPU average no more than 20 %. The exchange mailbox servers on our DAG have very low CPU and memory utilization as well.

What's your RAM? Exchange consumes a huge amount of RAM, so the more the merrier.

Hello, I have seen this performance isssue when client computer have some isssues when connecting RPC Client access service Ports and Address Book service Port. If you have Static Port Mapping you should check connectivity for those ports. Also Outlook 2003 has know issuse about Connecting and Updateing the forders. So better you use Outlook 2007 with latest Service Packs and Outlook 2010. First you can ran Performance conunter script written by Mike Lagase. Then you can ran PAL tool and analize the logs, PAL tool will tell you which are not weak and which are weak. 64 GB/ 24 core on each node of the DAG. As you can see, plenty of memory and CPU.

We have a 12 node DAG, each node has 24 core/64 GB of RAM We have 4 CAS servers on ESX forming a CAS Array behid a HW firewall. Client connect to mail.domain.com In the AD site in question we have 6 DCs We can try configuring the profile with one CAS server but the issue is sporadic.

We don't have any static port. We are seeing this both outlook 2003 and outlook 2010.

So you are talking about remote user/who are outside the office LAN. How many users do they connect on the OWA /RPC over HTTPS? How many concurrent connections? What is the internet backbone on those CASE servers? How many Global Catalogues you have?
