Exchange volume has less than 10% free
My volume for my Exchange(2007) Database has below 10% free. It's a 125GB volume with 10GB free. The server is a VM, so I want to see what my best option is. My initial thought was to dismount the DB, take down the server expand the volume, grow the volume, remount the DB. I'm not sure how Exchange will feel about that volume being a different size. My 2nd though was to ad an additional volume to the server and try to move the DB. I've never done any DB maintenance on Exchange, so this is all new to me. My 3rd option was to add another storage group and move/migrate all users(200 or so) to the new storage group. If anyone has done any of these, please advise me on the best way. Thanks.

i expanded a partition from 200GB to 400GB and i had no problem steps: 0. made a backup with disk2vhd 1. expand storage partition 2. stop exchange 3. convert partition to dynamic 4. expand partition 5. start exchange the exchange must be installed on a diffrent partition from the system hope this helps, Dragos

Exchange won't care that you've expanded the volume as long as
you haven't mucked up the content of the database and logs.-- Ed

Hi Jason,
Exchange will feel about nothing after the volume size is changed. You could refer to the steps by Dragos.
Regarding your second question, there is no best practice for moving 200 users’ mailboxes, please refer to the following article about move mailbox:
