Exchange vs Gmail
Hi Im new here.
Ive recently taken a job as Systems Admin at a company who
are running IBM Domino/Notes. Now it was
pretty much the talk that they wanted to migrate away from Domino to Exchange
from day one. However now the guys in
the Austin
office have come up with the idea that we should be using Googles GMail Enterprise. Right now Im in favor of migrating to
Exchange 2007.
Other than to save money are there any reasons to move from
hosting a more traditional internal mail server using something like
Domino/Exchange/Groupwise vs a hosted offsite webmail like Gmail?
Can anyone direct me to any non-Microsoft pages or white
papers comparing in house Exchange hosting vs offsite hosting (SaaS). Any additional features tying Exchange into Blackberry
Enterprise Server (BES 4.1) would be of additional benefit because they love
their BBs here.
Sorry, Im new at this whole management *thing* and frankly
Id much rather be working on servers than doing politics and writing reports.
PS, if anyone has any helpful tips on migrating from Domino
6.5 to Exchange 2007 and would like to throw that in that would be great too!
