Exchange web service permissions
Hi, In my application I am reading calendar appointments for all the user in the Active directory by using single authentication(for e.g. admin) using Exchange web service 2007. My requirement is I should not read calendar items for users who are high level executives in an organization. Can I restrict the permission to access Exchange web service (or to read calendar items through EWS) for some users so that others and himself cannot read calendar items using Exchange web service? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Remove delegate permissions for that admin account from the exec's calendars. Hopefully you have not granted full mailbox access to the admin account to everyone's mailboxes. If so, then use a different account for you web services process.

I don't think you can easily do this in E2007. E2010 will allow you to block EWS on a per-user basis using Set-CasMailbox, but the same command in E2007 doesn't have as many options (including this one). I think you will need to find a way of doing it from within your application (e.g. by checking whose mailbox you're about to start accessing).Mobile OWA For Smartphone www.leederbyshire.com email a@t leederbyshire d.0.t c.0.m

Thanks for your replies guys. If I block EWS for a user using Set-CasMailbox in ES2010, still can I access EWS from outlook for that user.

The options are quite comprehensive, I'd suggest you have a look at this: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125264.aspxMobile OWA For Smartphone www.leederbyshire.com email a@t leederbyshire d.0.t c.0.m
