Exhange 2007 Managed Folders - Removing an Old Folder from Users Outlook
Recently implemented some exchange managed folders and decided that one of them was not needed. Tried removing it from the policy but it didnt remove from users view in outlook. Then decided to just delete it thinking it would go away, but still there in user's outlook. When I deleted it, it did change the icon association so the user could delete it themselves, but really need some automatic way to get rid of it. Thanks.

Check the managed folder assistant settings on what time it is configured to run http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123958.aspx or update it manually

I have been runnning the start-managedfolderassitant from powershell to force the changes instead of waiting overnight for it to automatically happen. Still does not remove the folders from the clients. I think this might be by design but looking into the remove-managedfolder command to see if it can remove the folders from the users mailboxes.

Do you mean you remove the management folder from the policy, but the policy still applied to the user? If so the icon "Assign policy" should be find via Outlook. I think the most important is whether the folder that remove from the policy still be procssed by the policy. If not, you don't need to care it. Try to recreate Outlook view.

it is not being processed by the policy, once you remove a custom folder from exchange it leaves the folder behind still in the managed folder section but is basically a standardard folder you can delete and no policy, qouta or retention applied. My problems is removing the left behind folder after the custom folder is deleted from exchange. I could visit every outlook client and highlight it and delete or connect to everyones mailbox and remove it manually, but I am looking for a script or way to automajically/quicly remove the old folder from the users mailbox.
