Export Mailbox - Exclude Dumpster Items
I find that alot of my exports fail due to dumpster items.... is there a switch that can be used to exclude these?
I appreciate the help.
Thanks

which version of exchange?
in exchange 2010, dumpster data is not exported when you run export-mailbox

looks like it is exchange 2007.
in 2007, it will export the dumpster items, no option to exclude dumpster items.
workaround:
1. set the retention to 0 days
2. run online maintainence.
3. export-mailbox.

The is not a full proof workaround. I have done this on a mailbox on Exchange 2010. The mailbox contains 11 GB of dumpster files that are not seen in Outlook or MFCMAPI. The items are not removed by setting the retention to zero and running
online maintainence. They are seen in PowerShell, but for some reason PowerShell cannot remove them. It would be most bennifical to have a -skipdumpster filter in the export-mailbox cmdlet.

I agree with dbiz, this would be very useful.
It would also be very good to be able to empty the dumpster for a mailbox or database in an emergency.
