Export and Import PST corrupting mailbox folder structure
Hi,
I have an old Exchange 2003 mailserver which I am replacing with Exchange 2013 server. I am doing a fresh install in a new domain and will import the old mailboxes (5) via PST's.
I have exported the mail from Exchange 2003 using exmerge to PST files, then imported using the new EAC import PST process. When completed I see that the folders inside the mailbox have corrupt names.
Any ideas?
Cheers
Craig

Hi,
Sounds like this is what the Mailbox Repair Request is for. Maybe try http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff625226.aspx and see if that works.
I was dis a similar thing with a single mailbox by importing the PST through outlook 2013. The result was that account will not connect with activesync any more.

Hello Craig,
Did you see this issue before you import the pst file (which export with Exmerge)?
If not, I suggest you follow this way to have a try:
Use Outlook to export pst files from Exchange 2003 mailboxes.
Import the pst file to Exchange 2013 mailboxes.
After that, check whether this issue will occur or not.
Thanks,

Hi,
May be possible that PST Export and Import is not done well ,You should try again with the help of a EDB to PST Converter Tool.In such situation, you can use third party software that converts the EDB to PST, recovers all the data of EDB and saves it to
PST file. This PST file can be easily accessed using any version of MS Outlook.

Hi,
I had the exact same issue. I Exported all PSTs using ExMerge from Exchange 2003 and Imported one of them into the Account using Exchange Shell, and got the same result as in first post, Mailbox
Repair Request was of no use either. Then I setup Outlook using the new Account on Exchange 2013 and imported the same PST (Exported by ExMerge) in Outlook, and all folders seem to be OK.
When Exchange Shell did it, it tried to create new Folders and corrupted the names, when I did it from Outlook I chose to restore the items in same folders and all looked well. May
be adding some parameters to the New-MailboxImportRequest could help.

Hello,
If you don't have issue with Outlook exported pst file.
I suggest you follow this way to have a try:
Use scanpst to repair the pst file, then import again to have a try.
