External Contact
I am trying to setup an email account for a person that works for our company but gets all of his email through an external account. We had it set so that anything that came in would auto forward to his external account.
I just deployed Exchange 2003 and I am trying to figure out how to set this up so that it works like that. Any ideas would help.
He does not have an account in AD but we can set one up if needed.
Thanks

Try creating a "contact" in AD. That should take care of it.

I have created a contact with his external address as the SMTP address. It is still not working.
I did some more looking into this and found that I may have to create an account in A\D then forward to his contact. Is this true?

You shouldn't have to a full AD account. I just tried it here and it worked fine. I created a contact for my gmail account. Then went to Outlook and used the address book to find the contact and sent the message.
When you created the contact you should have had the option to add the e-mail address. You can verify that by viewing the properties of the contact and clicking on the Exchange General tab. The E-mail field should look like SMTP:username@domain.com.
One other question. Did you create the contact using Active Directory Users and Computers on the Exchange server or on the DC? If you did it on the DC do you have the Exchange System Tools installed? If not try doing it on the Exchange server and see it that does it.
