If you are using Exchange 2010 SP1 and above, you could create a personal, online archive on another store for the mailbox , apply an archive policy and the policy would automatically move items to the archive based on modified date. If you are using any version before Exchange 2010, you would need 3rd party products or script something on your own.

Using Archive mailbox is very tempting and a nice feature but as is often the case, the client doesn't want to spend any money on this and the way I understand it reading MS literature each archive mailbox will cost them one CAL. Which is a bit pricey when we have around 60 mailboxes. Now that exmerge is no longer available I was really hoping some Powershell guru out there would be able to help me on this one. Maybe with some magic script using Export-Mailbox? Regards, Orvar.

Agree with AD that if you have 2010 SP1 or great that using the built-in Archive mailbox capability is best.if you want to not use the archive mailbox, you can check out Lucid8's DigiScope http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp which will allow you to search an offline copy of the database by date range for that user and then you can use the recovery wizard to redirect the recovery to an alternate mailboxTroy Werelius www.Lucid8.com Search, Recover, & Extract Mailboxes, Folders, & Email Items from Offline EDB's and Live Exchange Servers with Lucid8's DigiScope

Hi all. I've been tasked with creating a somewhat unusual way to archive mail. Basically what the client wants to do is extract/move content which is over a certain age (12 months) from a users mailbox and move it to another mailbox (not pst) which will be specifically created as an archive mailbox and stored on a second database (but on same server) Would anyone know if there's a command for this in exhange or if this is even possible through the shell? I know there are some third party archiving products out there that may be able to do something similar but due to cost that would not be an option. Any help would be appreciated. Regards, Orvar.
