Failed Exchange 2013 setup - catch 22 situation
Dear all,

Trying to install a new Exchange 2013 server here.

Launched the GUI setup, went through the various pre-requisites and launched into the meat of the matter. It seemed to work fine until I got  failure in the HubTransportRole.

Now I have an incomplete install.  Setup will not run in "normal" mode, instructing me to run in /m:RecoverServer mode. That generates two new errors:

[06.26.2014 07:39:36.0559] [1] [REQUIRED] The language pack bundle could not be found or is corrupt.
No idea where this is coming from - it's the very same server that passed pre-requisite checks a few minutes ago...

[06.26.2014 07:39:36.0569] [1] [REQUIRED] A Setup failure previously occurred while installing the HubTransportRole role. Either run Setup again for just this role, or remove the role using Control Panel.

Well that's what I am trying to recover from... I can't run setup to remove this role as it instructs me to use RecoverServer, yet RecoverServer instructs me to use normal setup... A bit of a catch22.

This is Exchange 2013sp1 on Server 2012R2.

Any suggestion / pointer most welcome

I have checked the ISO sha1 and it matches.

I have extracted it's content to local drive and ran setup from there - exact same result.

As per suggestion I have tried

Setup.exe /mode:install /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms /role:HubTransport

but this reports

Setup previously failed while performing the action "DisasterRecovery". You can't resume setup by performing the action "Install".
So I can't install, I can't recover, I can't remove...

There is no HubTransport role in Exchange 2013.

well I am just copy / pasting from the Exchange 2013 installer log.

This is a "virgin" domain, i.e never had an exchange server before,

That's not what I mean by install from the command line.

In a command window navigate to the setup files folder and enter:

setup.exe /mode:install /roles:CA,MB

(or just MB if you're install CAS on a different server)

and add any other parameters which apply.

Report back with any errors that are displayed.

I am having this issue right now.  I got the language error to go away by removing a registry key. I removed the whole language key at HKLM \SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\ExchangeServer\v15\Language Packs

I am still having the other issue.  Mine flips between the failure installing the HubTransport (which was somewhat removed by the way).  If I switch to using the install switch it fails and gives me the statement stating that I have to install just the HT role.  I also tried it through the Control panel, guess what, it fails there too.

Someone please help.
