Failed to Update Headers Win 7pro Outlook 2010

Hi everyone,

I am running windows 7pro, Outlook 2010 with Sky email IMAP.

All has worked fine for many months then all of a sudden i cannot open any IMAP folders, just keep getting the message "Failed to update headers".

An IMAP command failed.
Protocol:  IMAP
Server:  imap.tools.sky.com
Port: 993

I have run a virus scan, (I am running microsoft security essentials) which found a trojan and i have deleted it - the recommended action.

I have deleted my email account and set up account again but still same problem.

My Web mail works fine, seems an issue with outlook?

I have deleted all items in my inbox through webmail and i have no pending invitations.

I have run scanpst.exe and although it did find errors it had no effect on my problem.

I have even deleted my outlook profile and started from scratch and still getting exactly same problem.

Is the problem with outlook or Sky? the sky website says they are not experiencing problems, i have been trying all day (7hrs so far) and it is perplexing me. :(

Please... help anyone?

Thanks, Scott

PS Strangely if i change to POP settings the emails come through, its just not working on IMAP?

The problem may be the configuration of IMAP.

First of all, please make sure you have enabled IMAP in your Sky mail website, if you don't do this, IMAP can't be configured successfully.

Then please contact Sky Mail support, to get the IMAP configuration information and parameters, such as Server and Port. Maybe there's not only one port, you may switch to another if one doesn't work.

After these steps, try creating a new profile in Outlook:

Hi MelonSky, thank you but as stated in my original post it was working absolutely fine for months so IMAP was enabled and i have the configuration, there is no other port than 993 for SSL IMAP.

I have deleted and created a new profile about 5 times to try and get it working and had no joy. :(
