Favorite contacts disappear on Outlook restart

For as long as I can recall any contacts I add as a Favorite no longer appears as one after restarting Outlook. This includes when hovering over the People pane and adding the People pane to the To-Do bar.

I've experienced this on several different machines and even the same machines after re-install of Office. I have also tried starting with /resetnavpane, without any success.

Any thoughts on how to fix this?

Thanks!

Hi,

Which type of email account are you using?

Once we add a contact to Favorites, that contact is saved in two locations:

{06967759-274D-40B2-A3EB-D7F9E73727D7}
Container Class:IPF.Contact.MOC.QuickContacts

{A9E2BC46-B3A0-4243-B315-60D991004455}
Container Class:IPF.Contact.MOC.ImContactList

We may try to use the MFCMAPI tool to delete these properties and then test the issue again. To do this, please follow the steps below:

1. If you are using Exchange account, please first turn off Cached Exchange mode.

2. Download MFCMAPI tool from: http://mfcmapi.codeplex.com/

3. Launch MFCMAPI tool.

4. Click Sessions > Logon > Choose your Outlook profile.

5. Double click on your SMTP address.

6. Expand Root Container> Top of Information store > Contacts.

7. Right-click on the GUID mentioned above and select Delete.

8. Restart Outlook and test the issue again.

Please let me know the result.
