Is there any way to determine if a mailbox has corrupted mail items with a utility or with powershell or any other way for that matter. i want to be able to do this without taking the database down and with users online

If this Exchange 2010 SP1, you could use New-MailboxRepairRequest for mailbox level testing and logical corruption http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff625226.aspx In previous versions 2007 and earlier, isinteg was typically used for logical corruption but that required taking the store offline. If you can export items to a pst, thats apretty good indicator the items themelves are ok. Or move the mailbox to another store. Corrupt items will be dropped then as well.

Hi Rob, As per my knowledge, there is no such tool which can export report of dirty mail item from mailbox or store. As Andy suggested, Best way to handle dirty item by increase BAD limit and move mailbox into other store. I would suggest you to read below thread mentioned by Brian. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchange2010/thread/728141fb-3a9f-4bb3-a202-d11060b11fb5/Anil MCC 2011,ITIL V3,MCSA 2003,MCTS 2010, My Blog : http://messagingschool.wordpress.com

Hi, As per my knowledge, there is no way to export the mailboxes with corrupted mail items. Agree with above. You can exceed the maximum number of corrupted items of the mailboxes and then move to others. Hope this helps. Thanks Sophia Xu
