Font-restricted templates
Hello all. I've created document templates in Word 07 that my coworkers will be using to import(copy/paste) and create new instruction sheets/SOPs. I've been able to use content controls to structure the templates, but my primary goal now is
to find a way to control font use in the new documents. As of right now I'm operating under the assumption that this is impossible without disabling direct formatting. The primary formatting need is for bulleting/numbering, but as these documents
are diverse, I can't anticipate every need. I can, however, be sure that we will want Arial 11 to be the basic font used in every document. I would appreciate some feedback if someone knows a way to control this or at least supply a more foolproof
method than instructing users to "select match destination formatting" with every paste. Thanks in advance.

you can set "select match destination formatting" as the default paste option. Office button -> Word Options -> Advanced, adjust settings under "Cut, Copy and Paste" heading.

Thanks for your reply. I did see this option and that is an idea worth passing along in any case, but I was hoping for something that would affect the template file rather than my personal settings.

I've spent some more time playing with my templates and it looks like it's just not possible to control any one part of a style without completely locking down formatting. I'm a little bit baffled as to why I shouldn't be able to specify a
character style as the only option while leaving all other options available, but I've made my peace.
