I have been using Publisher 2007 and for the first time today, every time I try and open a Publisher file, I get the window asking me to purchase or activate 2010, and the files won't open.  Does anyone now how to stop this?  All the files were created in 2007, so there should be no problem.  Is this Microsoft's way of blackmailing me into buying an updated version of Office?

Did you get any solid indication when opening Publisher file.

Check if it was just a matter of Publisher not opening up when you double-clicked one of the Publisher files. You might see if you can start Publisher from the Start Menu.

You might also right click the file and use the "Open with..." command to see if you can get Publisher to open it.

A recent update on Sep 12th might mess up the file associations, check it in Control panel>Program and features>View installed updates. Remove the updates to see if it helps.
