Formula to extract letters from other cell

Dear all,

I am bothering with this issue already for some time, but I cannot manage to put together this formula.

Basically I have a table in Word 2013. In left cell I have word e.g. "Mr.Smith" and in the right cell I would like to insert formula that will extract and leave only "Smith".

Is this even possible in Word?

Thanks in advance for help

Hi,

According to your description, your request is easy done via Excel. We can use Mid and find formula, for example:

But, these advanced formula is not supported in Word, please check the list of build-in formula of Word.

Thus, I recommend we try the 2 workarounds:

  • Embed an Excel table to the Word.
  • Use a macro via VBA (I recommend you use this method, if you have multiple tables in Word)
