Free/busy not always up to date for Lotus Notes users
I have the following setup: 2 email environments: Exchange 2007 and Lotus Domino 8.5.1. Half our staff are on Lotus Notes, the other half on Outlook 2007. Microsoft Transporter Suite installed on Hub Transport server with free/busy and Directory Connectors setup. The issue I have is several Lotus Notes users complaining that the Scheduling information in their calendar in not always up to date. They can see some free/busy but not all. I have had to open Outlook 2007 using the /cleanfreebusy switch and then all the free/busy info is then made available to the lotus Notes users. I dont have any issues with Outlook 2007 users. Any ideas how I fix this? I believe it uses Public Folders to store free/busy for Notes users. How can I get the free/busy data updated on a regular basis to the Public Folder (without manually opening up the Outlook client using the /cleanfreebusy switch)?

Hi, First please ensure that the following requirement has been met. A separate process of the transporter suite, excalcon.exe, must run on a Domino server to allow free/busy requests to work. It’s required to create a foreign domain document in Domino for free/busy information, something that isn’t a requirement for the Directory Connector. Microsoft states that the Domino server must be started as a service and not as an application for free/busy lookups to work. This can be configured from the window shown in Figure 17 when starting the Domino server. Note the option to always start as a service. Then please look at the article below to check the configuration on domino. Yes I have a separate process for the transporter suite called excalcon.exe,. Yes there is a foreign domain document in Domino for free/busyMicrosoft states that the Domino server must be started as a service and not as Yes Domino is (always) started as a service. And yes I have read the above links before (and again today). We are only have problems with the scheduling information for meeting rooms not being up to date for Lotus Notes users. Sorry I should have made that clear before. Normal Outlook accounts are ok and I'm assuming this is because the Outlook users are always logging in and out of Outlook every day (and the meeting rooms are not). The issue isn't that it's not working, it's just not always up to date so I just want to know an automated way of updating the free/busy for these meeting rooms. I have the free/busy service restarting on the hub transport server every 2 hours and I manually log into each meeting room in Outlook using the /cleanfreebusy switch.
