Front end server and back end server

Almost. There's nothing that prevents the use of the FE server by internal SMTP clients. In my understanding ,in Exch 2003 front end server send/receive mail from/to outside of Exchange Org. back end server send/receive mail from Outlook client and front end server. Is it right ?
