GAL hidden
Are there any types of mailboxes that should be hidden from a global address list, and can you give some example, and the potential impact of why. I just scanned through ours and some of our mailboxes dont at all seem to be linked to an employee.
Also, should disabled domain accounts have there account hidden from the GAL, or does this happen automatically when they are disabled?

Hi,
None of the clients I work with have any mailboxes hidden from the GAL, except for disabled users (users that are no longer in the company). They will normally hide these from the GAl as well as remove the disabled users from any distribution lists they
were members of.
Remember that hiding a mailbox from the GAL won't disable its ability to receive emails - if another user have the disabled users in her Outlook cache or use the disabled users smtp address they can still send mails to the mailbox.

So disabling the mailbox ownder domain account in AD does not hide that mailbox in the GAL? It just sits there as though the domain owner is still working with the company?

Hi,
That is correct.

Hi,
Agree with Leif. Hiding a mailbox from the GAL won't disable its ability to receive emails.
