Global Address list isn't updating
Greetings. My Global Address List is not updating. Haven't updated for a year or so (my, as in, the company I work for).I've been looking at this topic: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa998806(EXCHG.80).aspxBut where do i find the "Identity" ? I really don't wanna crash the address lists more than they are, with just trying some different identities...I can find all the contacts in Outlook if I look in "All users", but Global Address List wont update. If I find the Identity and complete the guide linked above, I can't see that as a problemsolving. To me it looks like it's something I have to do everytime a new contact is added.Do you have any idea what the problem may be? And a solution to the problem?I've been browsing google, technet and such - no found solutions yet!

Hi Bjarne, Are you able to see new address in OWA? If yes then your OAB has some problem and try to update it manually and check the update schedule interval and other settings of OAB. How to Update the Offline Address Book http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997684(EXCHG.80).aspx Offline Address Book Properties > General Tab http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124719(EXCHG.80).aspx

Thanks!I updated the OAB, however it don't work as intended...I found another lead (I guess). When switching Outlook off from running cached mode, all contacts is shown once trying to create a new mail and searching for recepients.Switching that property off, the contacts missing is gone again.Any other ideas ?

If you can see those in outlook online mode or in OWA then it must be OAB issue in outlook cache mode. Download OAB manually. Outlook -> Tools -> Send/Receive -> Download Address Book -> Select Full -> Click OK. Wait for sometime to download it and then check

Great idea! However, it's still not updating the GAL I've taken a screenshotIn that lower dropdown, i can choose the chosen or "\All users"Then it makes a new entry in my contacts - but it's not working as i want it to...The solution is still to update the GAL - so all my colleagues also gain access to the AD-users through Outlook (to send mails).

Did you wait for sometime after downloading? You mentioned that contacts are not being update, does it mean that you are adding contacts in AD with external email address (like gmail or yahoo)? or those are normal AD users. How is your global address list configured? I am sure contact filter should be included but just verify by this command. Get-GlobalAddressList | FL Additionally try to add the All Uses address list in OAB as per below article. Update the OAB and download in outlook and check Offline Address Book Properties > Address Lists Tab http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996322(EXCHG.80).aspx

Clarify: Users cant get all updated GAL [OAB], right? Collect info: 1. Could you provide some descriptions about your environment structure? Like, is it clustering and etc 2. Check if theres error info in the Sync Issues folder of outlook Notes: Click Folder List button in the outlook, which locates at the left-below corner of navigate pane by default 3. Could you check the configuration of OAB in the EMC? EMC->Organization Configuration->Offline Address Book tab-> right-click OAB and choose Properties 4. Is it an all users issue? Troubleshooting: 1. I saw that youve tried to perform a full download for GAL, after full download has completed, an event 27 will be logged on the application log of client Notes: We can analyze the event based on this article, or you can post the event content here 2. Herere two specific commands Id like you to run under OABInteg on client PC and post the output here a. oabinteg.exe /s:SrvName /t:storealtest /v:2 Notes: It must run against GC b. oabinteg.exe /s:SrvName /t:oaltest /v:2 3. As for update GAL, you just need to go to EMC->Organization Configuration->Offline Address Book tab->select your OAB and right-click it, theres Update button. Then check if therere any warning or error info in the application log Resources: Offline Address Book Integrity (OABInteg) Utility Explained OABInteg and how to use it to troubleshoot OAB generation issues
