Hello, If you are seeing new entries populating in the GAL in OWA or in Online Mode in Outlook but not in Cached Exchange Mode, it means that your Offline Address Book is not generating properly, or the clients cannot pull the OAB. In a normal environment the OAB is generated once per day, so there will be a delay between the time you create accounts and the time they show up on your Cached Exchange mode clients. I recommend you check your OAB settings on your Exchange servers and also check your client to make sure it can pull the OAB. You can do this on the client in Outlook by going to Tools -> Send/Receive -> Download Address Book

You can initiate OAB updating via the Update-OfflineAddressBook cmdlet. The easy way is Get-OfflineAddressBook | Update-OfflineAddressBook If you are having a certificate error, your clients will not be able to pull the OAB even if it is updating correctly. Be sure you have a valid certificate installed on your IIS web site that your clients have a trust relationship for (e.g. signed by a trusted root Certificate Authority or your own Windows Certificate Authority). You can use your web browser and browse to https://client-access-server-name/OAB to assist in troubleshooting your certificate problem. You should not receive any certificate warnings from your browser when doing this.

Internally you could use HTTP for OAB. Below is a quote from the Exchange Team Blog: The OAB Virtual Directory supports direct connection as well as connections through ISA server. However, the BITS client does not support self-signed certificates so by default, OAB distribution points are created to use HTTP. You can enable SSL support if you provide a fully trusted certificate in IIS. Exchange 2007 Offline Address Book Web Distribution http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2006/11/15/431502.aspx However, it does work with self-signed certificates. You could also increase the logging for the OAB Generation (OABGen). You will find very detailed information in the Application Log in Event Viewer, task category: OAL Generator [PS] C:\>Get-EventLogLevel "MSExchangeSA\OAL Generator" Identity EventLevel -------- ---------- MSExchangeSA\OAL Generator Lowest [PS] C:\>Set-EventLogLevel "MSExchangeSA\OAL Generator" -Level High [PS] C:\>Get-OfflineAddressBook | Update-OfflineAddressBook [PS] C:\>Set-EventLogLevel "MSExchangeSA\OAL Generator" -Level Lowest [PS] C:\> (1) Get the level (2) Change the level to high (3) Generate the OAB (4) Set the level to lowest again MCTS: Messaging | MCSE: S+M | Small Business Specialist

well I think the cause of problem was something else as I've run all above information and foud out no errors.Actually on this server I've changed my primary SMTP from xyz.com to new.com and When i tried downloading the Address book i was not able and it ended up with errors. Now I've re-configured the profile again with the new updated new.com email address and it works fine. So is it true to say that when you change the email domain for all the users you may end up facing this problem.?

I don’t think the modification of email address policy will impact on OAB download process Quote: “it ended up with errors” What’s the error info?James Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
