Granting permissions to mailbox on folder level
Hi All
We are running Exchange 2007 SP3.
The Marketing dept. have a new mailbox that they use named "Marketing Ideas". Essentially, within this mailbox there are different folders for each department in our company - Software, Financial Software, New Sales etc. Each folder can then have different
sub-folders.
Marketing people have asked us in IT if it possible to grant permissions on a folder level to this mailbox, rather than give people Full Mailbox Access. Therefore, staff in New Sales can only have access to the New Sales folder (and any subfolders), for example,
only and can't see any other folders such as Software.

Anyone with Full Mailbox Access can assign the necessary permissions
to the folders in the mailbox. Just be warned that the permissions
will become a freakin' nightmare to manage. Make sure you put the onus
on the "Marketing dept." to manage folder-level permissions!

Hi Tom,
Mailbox users can also grant other users access to the folders in their mailboxes without designating them as their delegate.
When users grant access to one of their folders, the user to whom they granted access can open that folder and access its contents. To learn more about using Outlook to manage folder-level permissions, see
Permissions.
You can grant access to the folders in your mailbox by using the
Permissions tab of the folder property page. For more, you can refer to ‘Granting Access to Specific Folders in a Mailbox’ of the link:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123879(EXCHG.80).aspx
And I have tested in my environment, which works fine.
Hope it helps. If you encounter any difficulties, please let us know.
