Having issues with Sending Emails from Excahnge 2013

hope you can help,

I am learning Excahnge 2013 for the first time, and I have just build my first Excahnge 2013 server on a Windows 2012 server.

I follow the steps from "petenetlive.com" on how to install the server and services. as this is a test bed server, I haven't gone as far as getting the Cert's.

I have tried to different domain names from JCPPhotos.local  and jessphotos.co.uk but for some reason, I can't get the exchange to send out a test email, but I am able to send emails within exchange to internal email accounts with no issues.

at the moment as this is a test bed, I have all the services on the same server, AD, Domain Contractor, DNS, but once I have this all sorted out then I will split the services onto different servers.

I have at the moment disable all firewalls on the server, and opened all ports on my main firewall for all out going traffic.

I have set up the send connecter as shown by Petenetive, and as the domain name is the same as my public domain name I have done anything else.   has anyone else had the same issues, and if so then can you please advice.

Is your email address user@jessphotos.co.uk? if it's jcpphotos.local it's probably getting bounced back because .local is not a tld that can resolve back to something.

If this is the case you can take a look at this link and create a new email address policy for jessphotos.co.uk (I'm assuming that's good, but I don't do any business in the UK so I really have no idea)

did you create a SMTP connector?

Did you also setup the MX records?

did you setup the .UK email address the primary emails address on the mailbox?

if anyone of them is no your email will keep getting bounced back.

Hi Chris,

1.Please check the queue viewer and check the last error message.

2.Then telnet anyone of the mail server in the internet over port no 25 , if you can then you can able to send emails to internet.

3.You can make use of the EXRCA outbound email test to get the exact error.

Reply me if you have any queries.

reply,   Yes I did set up a SMTP Connector.

I havn't don't no MX record from my ISP yet, as I wanted to get the send connector to work first.

I am not sure on how to check the Primary email address,  but in the accepted domains, I only have "Jessphotos.co.uk" which has been authoritative.

Hi Chris ,

Thank you for your question.

By your state, I know you want to know if the send connector work for outbound mail flow.

When we configure send connector with MX record in ISP, we could send email to external.

However, if we have no MX record, the emails which was sent will be listed in the queue on Exchange 2013, when there are MX record in ISP, message will be send to edge server or external directly.

We could refer to the following link to learn about message flow on Exchange 2013:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996349%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Jim

Arr,

so are we saying that Exchange will not work, unless we have a SMTP within Exchange and a MX Record in the ISP. and if one of them is not created then exchange will not work ?

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your question.

When Exchange was installed, we will send/receive email  without any problems in internal.

If we want to send/receive email to/from Internet, we will register in ISP. We will create

Send connector and receive connector on Exchange in organization.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Jim

Hello Chris,

As there're two ways for Exchange to send outbound mail - 1) by means of DNS  and 2) using a smarthost -and your Exchange has not been registered in ISP meaning you can't make use of DNS, you can test outbound mail flow by designating your ISP's mail server (of course if there is any) as your Exchange server's smart host. In this case all domain-to-mx resolution will be done by your ISP.

Michael

thanks for all your advice,

as I can't use my current ISP DNS "don't ask why"  I will rebuild my test rig at home tonight and hopefully I will be able to get my test domain to point the exchange server and use that DNS and ISP to get the connection going.

Ok, I see.

Strictly speaking for an OUTbound message to be delivered you just need to be able to resolve the receipient domain's mx record - publishing your own server may not be necessary as not all internet mail servers use the sender domain checking.

Michael

it will get bounced or end up in a spam - he must need to create a record.

Ok, I am still having issues.

Here is my setup so far.

I have a exchange server 2013 running in a VM Environment with a Fix IP Address
"192.168.0.150"

I have disabled all firewalls on the server

I have set up my router to point all traffic on port 25 to 192.168.0.150

I have gone to my Domain Hosting firm and added a A Record and MX Record that is pointing
to my External Ip Address.

my External IP Address is DHCP as this is given to me by my ISP.

but when I try and send a test email I am getting errors.

I have tested my Exchange SMTP via telnet and it allows me to login with no issues.

I also did a few other tests, which I have added the screen shots for

Outbound Emails

Inbound Emails

Port Query

Domain A Record and MX Record Details

as you can see that my outbound has a few blocks, which I think I will need to talk to my ISP about. but now confused on how to procede to resolve this issue.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your question.

we could remove IP address(82.30.109.135)from SORBS Block List by the following link:

http://www.au.sorbs.net/

we could also make sure telnet mail.jesssphotos.co.uk 25 from Internet.

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Jim
