Help Configuring Exchange 2007 - Fresh Install
Hey, Ive just finished configuring my exchange 2007 server to the basic level IE - Installed Hub Transport , Client Access , Unified Messaging, and Mailbox Roles. The Configuration is on a small network. "Example.ie" (One Primary DC and One Exchange 2007 Server) Im a bit of a noob when it comes to exchange, infact im only learning about it now - (Im at college Level) - Basically i want to know what to do next, IE How to get it too be internet facing, and how to configure it with an external domain name, IE The one Ive just purchased. keep in mind i dont really know a whole lot about exchange and its configurations, so when your explaining it too me i would very much appreciate it if you could take me through step by step, what you would do from scratch. so too sum up what im trying to do:- I have a domain name purchased "example.ie" and i have an idol fresh install of exchange 2007. ive configured nothing on it. and i want it too be a fully functioning exchange server IE be able to send and receive emails too and from internal and external. Hope someone can help im at a loss. Thanks in advance, Robert.

Thanks for those links - However they still dont answer my query - They describe how to deploy exchange for the first time. Remember i have exchange installed with Mailbox, UM, Client Access , Hub Transport Roles installed. I want to know what to do next - Ive already spent hours searching forums but they dont give a clear answer. Thanks for the input though. Robert.

Go through the Deployment Assistant: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/exdeploy2010/default.aspx#Index Its for Exchange 2010, but will really work just as well for 2007 for the most part.

Andy is right. The basic is a receive connector and a send connector. Then some accepted domains and e-mail address policy, then you have the basic running. /MartinExchange is a passion not just a collaboration software.

This is a really simple step-by-step guide for Exchange 2007: http://www.servolutions.com/support/config_exchange_2007.htm You can leave the step configuring a POP3 downloader of if you have the DNS MX records pointing to your server already.
