Help with reinstallation
Hi,
Please help me.
I have successfully installed and uninstalled Exchange 2007 SP1 recently. I need to reinstall now, but I am receiving a failure immediately upon installing organization prep.
The error is.."An error occurred. The error code was 3221692464. The message was There is no such object on the server."
Here is a portion of the ExchangeSetupLogs...

Clarify: unable to reinstall exchange 2007 after uninstalled it, right?
Collect info:
1. Can you describe your environment? And, its a product or VM environment?
2. Any error info in the application log?
3. This failed PC, is it a DC or member server?
Troubleshooting:
1. Checked Dcdiag and Netdiag [dcdiag >dcdiag.txt | netdiag >netdiag.txt]
2. Launch ADSIEditor, check if you had removed CN=Microsoft Exchange and all other related entries
3. If its a member server, Disjoint and rejoin it into domain back after resetting its computer account in the ADUC <right-click its computer account->reset account>
4. Now run Setup.com /PrepareLegacyExchangePermissions->Setup.com /PrepareSchema->Setup.com /PrepareAD->Setup.com /Preparedomain
Notes: post the error info if you get

Hi James,
Thanks for the reply. Sorry this response is so late.
1) The environment is a single 2003 DC environment in Windows 2003 for both Forest and Domain functional environment. This is a new implementation. There were no previous Exchange Mail implementations.
2)I did not find any errors in the Application Log.
3) The failure occurs on a new, domain, member server running Server 2008 x64 edition.
Troubleshooting:
I have removed the member-server from the domain and reset the AD account and Rejoined the Server to the domain.
Here is what I receive in the when attempting AD prep from the command-line.(Setup.com /PrepareAD). Prior to execution of the command, I removed CN=Microsoft Exchange using ADSIedit.
Are there any other entries that need to be removed as well?
Thanks,
Marc

2. Whats the version of windows 2003, SP1?
3. What are the permissions of the user account who run this command?
Troubleshooting:
1. Please try to run prepare with this format - setup /PrepareAD /OrganizationName: <organization name>
Notes: Since you have removed Microsoft Exchange container, you must specify the org name
2. Please provide your setup log for further analysis. You also can send it to me
3. Can you describe the process of installation that you did at the first time?

Hi James,
Collect info:
1) Correct. Single Site, Single Domain with 2003 DC and 2008 member-server.
2) Yes, the 2003 DC is SP1
3) The User account is part of the Enterprise Admins group and Domain Admins Group.
Troubleshooting:
1) I have used this command labeling the Org name and have not had any success.
2) The setuplog is continues to list the same errors as listed above in my previous posting. I can provide the file again if needed.
3) The initial installation completed fine. I followed all the procedures in Technet Documentation.
4)I did have Active Directory Domain Services remote management tools installed. I have removed the tool and then rebooted. I now have it reinstalled. I attempted a "setup.com /PrepareAD /OrganizationName:<org name>" , and received the same error I always receive:
Performing Microsoft Exchange Server Prerequisite Check
Organization Checks ......................... COMPLETED
Configuring Microsoft Exchange Server
Organization Preparation ......................... FAILED
An error occurred. The error code was 3221692464. The message was There is
no such object on the server.
Thanks,
Marc

Hi,
Does anyone have an idea of what I can try to get this resolved? I have tried most of the suggestion from technet documentation and nothing appears to resolve the issue.
TIA,
Marc
