How Do I *Stop* Quattro Pro from Converting Access and Excel Files?
Ever since I installed WordPerfect 7, I've had periodic difficulties of having stored Excel files open in Quattro Pro.  Normally, I can easily correct that by retrieving the files from within Excel.  But now a more difficult problem has presented itself.  Yesterday, I tried exporting an Access file into Excel and Quattro Pro opened.  Short of deleting Quattro Pro is there anyone I can stop it from trying to convert my Excel and Access files?

Hi Robert,

Have you tried setting the default in explorer to Excel? I mean the option to right click an Excelfile and choose open with and then set the program to MS Excel? There is an additional checkbox you can check to set this to always use this program to open with this program. Maybe the default has been set to Quatro Pro. Same goes for an Access file right click and set the deafult to MS Access.

Thanks for your response.  However, your answer raises another problem.  After installing an HP M476nw printer a couple of weeks ago, Internet Explorer shut down, and I can't get it back up so to speak.  I've read all of Microsoft's How to Install Internet Explorer 10 (and Internet Explorer 11) in Windows 7 online support; but when I try to do so, I keep getting an error message which in substance states" you can't install this version because you've already installed a latter version of IE.  What's a fellow to do?  I've tried uninstalling Internet Explorer and beginning with a cold boot; but, nothing seems to work.  So, at least until I can find a solution to that problem, I guess I'm stuck with Firefox.  Sigh.
