How To Configure Email Filtering On Exchange 2003
Hi,I need to create a filter system to filter support emails for my company:1) based on clients address at the base of emails 2) based on email address3) based on key words (Hardware, Software,OS etc)Thus, all emails from customers come into support@company.com and are then forwarded to the relevant office and/or product line. It's easier for clients to remember one email address, and can be used globallyand sorts out hassles at our end.Can anyone tell me how to configure this step-by-step on exchange? We have exchange/outlook/server 2003 environment. Thanks,Taz

the easyest and probably the most stable would be to do it in outlook.setup a outlook install on the server or an unused machinefor the support@ addressthen setup rules via, tools/rules and alerts.just make sure outlook is left on to ensure forwarding.choose new rule, then start from a blank rule "check messages as they arrive"using "with specific words in the message body"or "with specific words in the senders address"when youve chosen which, click on the hyperlink style blue text at the bottom to specify the words.e.g topbannana@yellowfruit.comi would do a seperate rule for each customer, that way its less complicated for outlook and less likely to go wrong.now click next.choose "forward it to people or distribution list"again click the hyperlink thats apeared at the bottom and specifiy the recipient.e.g idealwithfruit@yourcompany.com click nextdont choose any exceptions so just click next againspecifiy a name for the rule, preferably the company/client name.and tick both "turn on rule" and "run this rule now"then click finishhope this helps

Hi,There is no such feature in Exchange 2003 server side. It is impossible to do that. But on the client side, we can set the corresponding rule to do this operation as todda2008 suggested.ThanksAllen

Hi,Thanks for your reply. After checking this out myself, this isn't possible on Exchange.IfI require this much granularity then I wouldneed athird party solution. I've heard GFI Mail Essentials is a great tool for this and is fairly inexpensive. There are others that can provide the same features. We don't really want to configure this on the client side as it's not practical, at least not for our purpose. Thanks,Taz
