How do I completely remove OneDrive

I would like to completely remove OneDrive from my computer, my Microsoft account and elsewhere. By remove I do not mean deactivate or make less active or make less intrusive. I mean remove, as in there no longer being a single OneDrive icon, code, folder or anything else OneDrive on my computer, in windows or anywhere else

I am not using OneDrive and I am never going to use it, as it is too slow, too cumbersome, too intrusive and causing me to lose a lot of time.

Hi,

Do you mind telling us which operation system are you using?

If we are using Windows8.1 and RT 8.1, OneDrive is  built into Windows 8.1. It comes with Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1 and can't be uninstalled, but it can be unpinned from the Start screen. Press and hold or right-click the tile, and then tap or click Unpin from Start.

Please see the detailed explain article

I recommend you can submit a feedback with below link:

If you are using Windows8 or Windows7, we can uninstall it.

PS: Here is an Outlook forum, if you have any further question about OneDrive, you'd better post it to Windows client forum:

Hope it's helpful.

For Windows 7 and 8, you can uninstall the software as you would any other.

Windows 8.1:
I have researched this myself as I was hoping to avoid confusion for one of our clients environments; they were going to use One Drive for Business instead. All of my researched showed me that it, unfortunately, cannot be uninstalled but it can be hidden. For the client, I hid the icon in their user profile, removed the Metro icon, and then performed the following reg hack to hid the icon in the navigation page.

1) Goto: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{8E74D236-7F35-4720-B138-1FED0B85EA75}\ShellFolder

2) Change attributes to: f090004d (from f080004)

*Note* Use extreme caution when editing the registry. changing the wrong settings can break your operating system. Create a restore point and back up registry settings before making any changes as a precaution.

I know you were looking to remove it completely but this is the best I can offer. I hope this helps!

It is Windows 8.1. As far as I understand you, there is no way to get rid of OneDrive with that version? How do I then downgrade to the 8.0 version so I can uninstall OneDrive?

Hi,

If your original operation system is Windows 8 and upgrade to 8.1 now, there are three situations:

1) If this is an OEM pc, we could use factory restore.

2) If we have Windows 8 system image, we could recovery Windows 8 with it.

Please Note: Since the web site is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.

3) If you have none of above things, we need to perform a clean installation of Windows 8.http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/clean-install

======

If your original operation system is Windows 8.1 when you installed with this pc, we also need to  perform a clean installation of Windows 8.(Ps: We need a Windows8 key, and Windows 8.1 is not applies to Windows 8).

Why is OneDrive mandatory and not uninstallable in Windows 10?  I do not want OneDrive.  I will never want OneDrive.  Windows keeps harassing me to set it up and it won't stop.  This has ruined productivity and made my computer useless.  Why are you doing this to your customers?
