How many installs (licenses) *remain* on my Office 2007 disc?

I've posted this in the Office 2010 section because I assume the problem for 2007 is identical.

A few years back I bought an Office Home & Student 2007 disc. On the box it says it's good for 3 installs on separate PCs. I know I've installed it on at least 2, and I'd like to see if I've also used up the last install/license, seeing as I can't remember if I have or not. That way I'll know whether I have to order a new Office disk with the new computer that I'm planning on purchasing.

How can I check to see how many licenses/installs remain on my Office Home & Student 2007 (or 2010 or 2013) disc?

Hi Rich,

For the licensing specific topics, we'd recommend you to read the "MICROSOFT SOFTWARE LICENSE TERMS (MSLT)" or contact the licensing center for help.

For example, from the MSLT for Office Home and Student 2007, we can learn the user right includes the following:

1. OVERVIEW. These license terms permit installation and use of a copy of the software on three devices, along with other rights, all as described below.

2. INSTALLATION AND USE RIGHTS. Before you use the software under a license, you must assign that license to a device. That device is a licensed device. A hardware partition or blade is considered to be a separate device.

  • a. Licensed Device. You may install one copy of the software on three licensed devices in your household for use by people who reside there. The software is not licensed for use in any commercial, non-profit, or revenue-generating business activities.

14. REASSIGN TO ANOTHER DEVICE. You may reassign the license to a different device any number of times, but not more than one time every 90 days. If you reassign, that other device becomes the licensed device. If you retire the licensed device due to hardware failure, you may reassign the license sooner.

In another words, just make sure you only have 3 computers in your home have the Office products installed in the same time. (The 4th device might run into problem when trying to activate through internet.)

And if you have problem activate your Office on a new device, try contact the Activation Center to obtain help of a customer service representative and activate the products fo
