You can create/delete/rename Public Folders within the Exchange Systems Manager. The question about safe it is just a placeholder to hold the message contents and you can always revert back to original name. Steps for renaming the PF In ESM select PF right click on PF click on Rename type in the name. Now right click on that renamed PF and go to properties Click on Exchange General tab to modify the alias to reflect the new name and in email address tab to reflect new emai address according to name. I am not aware of any tools which can help you to do your work in bulk. The above is the step to manually renaming the PF's Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

If you will do the task in the outlook, please ensure the account that does the task has the Owner permission on the renamed public folder. Or, we can do the rename via ESM directly

Thanks Vinod for the reply and the steps, as this task involved changes tomany public folders which could affect lot of users so the Top guys needs a confirmation that change will not break anything, If i read your message clear then the public folder are a kind of folders which we can find under C or D drive on which rename will not create any issue but for PF we need to change the alias and the email address associate with it.Can you think of anything else which i need to modify while renaming the PF?Thanks Inderjit

Thanks James and Vinod for helping me on this.So can i go ahead and tell my top management without any worry that we can rename the PF from ESM (steps provided by Vinod) at any point of time and that will not going to break anything? Please adviceInderjit

You have my word on it. Go ahead and rename it wont break anything. make sure in email address tab you create new email address rather than modifying the existing one Vinod |CCNA|MCSE 2003 +Messaging|MCTS|ITIL V3|

Yes, if they still say anything. Show them a POC with a least impacted PF rename. ;)Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com
