How to Create Rule on server for auto reply
Hi , My company is getting migrated(abc) to another company(xyz) and its name also gonging to be change. We have a exchange 2003 server , and each user have 2 email ID i.e. mike@abc.com and mike@xyz.com my primary email address is mike@xyz.com but still there are so many people sending email to mike@abc.com. Now @abc.com will be no more after some time. I want to set rule on server that if some one sends mail to @abc.com he will get auto reply saying pls send mail to @xyz.com instead of @abc.com as it will be no more exist.

Hi, It is not possible natively in Exchange 2003 and you have two options. 1. Write/develop your custom SMTP event sink which helps you to give auto-reply based on domain name of email address but you need a programmer. 2. You need to search for some third party tool.

Supplement: The way I know is, guide users to create and save these words an email template (as .oft), then apply this rule after the message arrives. While selecting "sent only to me" or where my name is in the to or cc list would allow it to be a server-side rule 1. Create template: Create reply message (text and subject) in a new message window File menu->Save As to save it as an .oft template file 2. Create the rule 3. Enable to Automatic Replies function in ESM Important: Its disabled by default to avoid potential of a looping message As an education workaround, you may guide users to add the words to their signature

For developing event sink please use the Development Forum which would be the most relevant forum for seeking the solution You can also program own event sink, read Event Sinks in the Exchange SDK documentation for basics of it, and then this article provides an overview of how to write event sinks for SMTP and Transport events Other resources: Developing Managed Event Sinks/Hooks for Exchange Server Store using C# Useful Exchange Developer Website
