How to Remove Message-ID Server Name from Email Headers (Exchange 2010 SP1)
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to remove all reference in our outgoing mail headers to the internal names of our servers.
I have been able to remove all the other header entries that list our internal server names, but the one that remains is on the end of the Message-ID entry in the emails header.
I don't need to have the entry removed per-se, but I would at least like to have our correct external name appended? Is this possible either way?
Example:
Message-ID: <8AA28F790F2AA045863801ADEC91554A1499FCD8@exmb1.abc.com
and change to:
Message-ID: 8AA28F790F2AA045863801ADEC91554A1499FCD8@exmb1.xyz.com
Thanks!

Not a good idea, you will break RFC by doing this and when you need to troubleshoot something it will be very difficult.
is this what you're looking for

You can also create a transport rule that remove/change the line "Message-ID" from mail destined to Internet.

Hi,
Per my knowledge, when Mapi submits the messages, the store driver attached the actual FQDN of the server in Mapi information of the header, there is not any good
way to change this.
For the external users , you can follow Lasse’s suggestion to hide the information from External Users (remove Ms-Exch-Send-Headers-Routing permission for Anonymous
user).
Thanks,
