How to add subdmain with the name of Exchange Server in Exchange 2003 policies?
This is my problem: Let's say: - Exchange server name: ExSrv - Domain: ExLab.com - machine@exsrv.exlab.com doesn't existed it just uses as a sender by a device So to make short history I have a looping prob because: 1- postmaster@exlab.com send email to machine@exsrv.exlab.com 2- Exchange2003 doesn't recognize the subdomain exsrv.exlab.com so it sends it to Smart Host 3- The Smart Host send it back to Exchange serveur and the looping prob starts. Then except if I make a mistake, to stop the looping prob I need to add the subdomain @exsrv.exlab.com in Exchange default policies. That what I tried to do but I got this err msg: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This domain can't be used for a recipient policy because it matches the name of Exchange server. ID no: c1031340 Exchange System Manager ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What can I do next?

Hi, Why don't you change the addrees machine@exsrv.exlab.com to machine@exlab.com and you solved the problem. As I understood machine@exsrv.exlab.com is used by a device to sent out messages. Reconfigure this one and it should be OK. br Sorin Stoleru

That what I thought too but I just want to know if there is something I should know to the fact that I could not put that subdomain in the Echange 2003 Policies.Because the in device it self there is no way to change it. By default it uses the machine name + the stmp server =machine@exsrv.exlab.com.So if there is nothing to do I will try to block it from Smart Host Server, stop to send it back to Exchange.

I would try to add the machine@exsrv.exlab.com to your account manually as an SMTP alias and not use recipient policies. I see no reason to use it if this applies to only one account. br, Sorin Stoleru

Ya I think there are just 2 choices, block from Smart Host or put an Alias in an Exchange account. All right, thank you for all your confirmations and suggestions. At least it clear for me that I can't do anything in Exchange Policies.
