How to allow group of users to send big attachments in Exchange 2003 ?
Dear All, I have the following questions, which i could not find a solution for it: I have a customer , with 500 users, running Win2K3 & E2K3 (Back End) Server. this back End is the Bridge Head Server as well which is responsible to send all outging emails to a smart host appliance located in the DMZ area. everything is working fine, in terms of sending and recieving and protecting the message hygine. now what that customer wants is the following: for a group of 20 users , and only 20 users, he wants to give them the ability to send big attachements, arround 25 MB in size, and lock this ability for the rest. now, here is what i've done, the orginal SMTP connector, i put the content restriction for 10 MB, and gave no restriction in the send and recieve for this connector, andi created another SMTP connector, and changed the content restriction to 20 MB in size, and give access to use this SMTP Connector to a distribution list group createdof these 20 users. offcourse, i increased the message size limit in Global Settings for sendind and recieving to 30 MB, and changed the same SMTP Settings on the virutal SMTP Server. also i added the Registry key to force Exchange to check for SMTP Restriction been applied on the connectory, by following the steps in MS KB 279813 now, what i noticed is that , the 20 users still use the first connector to send emails, which they should not be, what i know is that since i created SMTP connector, and give access to a group to use this connector, all the users under this group will always use this new connector, regardless if they have access on the first connector. can somebody tell me how to do this ? i mean , how to allow this group to use the new created connector, while the rest will be restricted from using the new connector and instead keep using the first connector ? You can set the global settings to be the default send maximum 10MB, then update the 20 users with an individual maximum of 25MB. No limit needed on the connector.

lets say i don't want to do it in this way, the connector should work, i don't want to go to each user and set this limitation on user's bases, i want to automate this. the SMTP connector should do this, right ? Regards, Alaa
