How to change the default message class to IPM.note for Exchange 2007 Public Folders
Hi I have just added a new 2007 Exchange server to an Exchange 2003 Org and am using it exclusivly as a public folder server. It will live in this mixed environment for a few months. My question is how do I make sure that the default message class is set to IPM.Note and not IPM.Post? I know external email will by default come in as this but we use a third party application that make extensive use of PFs and it requires IPM.notes to be the default (which it isn't). Before you mention that it's the third party application that is the problem, I had this same issue in Exchange 2003 and there was a registry value I had to set on all my PF servers. So can I use the same registry entry? Here it is below: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\Public-<GUID> create the key "Incoming defaults to IPM.Note" as a DWORD Thanks for your help! TKE402

“On a server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, e-mail messages from the Internet to a public folder come in as IPM.Note. This behavior occurs even when you do not use the "Incoming defaults to IPM.Note" registry value” ----------Refer to <Update to permit the caching of incoming SMTP messages as IPM.Note>James Luo TechNet Subscriber Support (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/subscriptions/ms788697.aspx) If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
