I have a client working on a new template for his product line.  He needs to create several new line types that do not 'jump' across other lines.  He wants to use the 'standard' line type in areas that a jump is desired, and his custom line type when a jump is not desired.  I haven't found anything on-line that addresses this issue.  Can you point me to any tutorials that talk about this?

The lines that 'jump' are dynamic connectors. When you create your new lines, don't start with dynamic connectors.

It's not the connector that controls that, but the page layout.

menu (or ribbon) Page Setup -> Layout and Routing

and you will see the Line JUmp section at the bottom.
