How to downgrade from Vista to XP?
I currently have windows Vista in a HP Pavilion dv9000t series notebook. I have encountered many problems with vista such that: 1). Most games do not work properly, if they even work... 2). When deleting files that i put on my notebook, i get "you do not have permission....etc", even when i am the only user and admin of my notebook. 3). Did a windows update which included a driver update for my sound card, and after rebooting, I have a message stating that there are no sound devices installed on my notebook. 4). Internet troubles: Both firefox and IE cant access the internet, yet when playing games or SSH'ing, i am able to access the internet??? 5). I have been dissatisfied with Vista from the very beginning and want to go back to XP! Vista has made my laptop a soundless browserless box which hates me. I have already spoken to HP support, and they said that my laptop was made for vista, so downgrading may cause porblems with drivers..etc. So, i am making recovery disks before i attemp to put XP on my notebook. Just wondering how i can obtain the XP OS? I saw and have heard that microsoft is giving free downgrades to Vista users, but cant find it anywhere. Before i have to call Microsoft about this, is there anyone here who can help. IM just plain sick and tired of Vista, and want my XP back !

Hi, The silence could be caused by the fact that you have posted in an exchange server news group. Its not that difficult to downgrade - save all you want to keep to an external drive, boot from the xp cd, format the disk and install. Leif
