How to edit the cross forest contact properties or convert the Cross forest contacts in exchange to normal mail enabled contact.

Hi All ,

This is an urgent requirement .All of your suggestions are much appreciated :)

In my environment recently we have migrated from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013 , during that time we have sync all the mail enabled contacts from exchange server 2007 to exchange 2013 by using FIM (Microsoft forefront identity manager) .

As we all know cross forest contacts are read only. But right now we would like remove the secondary smtp address from all those contacts but we cannot do that because all those contacts are read only. Please tell us some possible ways.

On our side we have found only the possible ways which are described below.

1.Contacts deletion and recreation .

2.Second option would be to re sync the contacts from the source forest to target forest by removing the secondary Smtp address in the source forest mail enabled contacts.Same time exchange servers in the source forest are not available and it was decommissioned a month ago.

But both the above options are very long process and it takes too much of time .Definitely someone would have the faced the same issue.

Please all of you tell me the possible ways to overcome this issue and it an urgent requirement.

I could have tried this way, but try it only test mailbox first.

try to edit proxyaddress attribute for one of the mail contact using ADSIEDIT.msc or try to modify necessary permission ACL via adsiedit.
