How to filter an OData feed?

experimenting with importing data from an odata feed ....

In Excel, I run: data ribbon, from other sources, from OData feed

for Location of the data feed I enter: http://packages.nuget.org/v1/FeedService.svc

This feed brings in over 120,000 rows, which blows the memory limits of my PC and Excel cannot complete the import.

In general, is there a way to apply filters to an OData feed?

I see there is a "Search keywords" entry field, but it does not appear to filter anything for this feed.  What is the "search keywords" entry field in the "Data Connection Wizard" used for ?

thanks,

Hi Steve,

There is a hint here on the functionality of "Search keywords":

"In the Search Keywords box, type some words or phrases that will help users find the data connection when it is published to SharePoint Server."

I recommend you to consider Power Query for Excel to achieve your goal. You will need Excel 2010, 2013 or Office 365 Professional Plus. You can install it here.

You will be able to filter the OData feed through the Query Editor and avoid large dataset in your workbook.

One nice thing about using OData connections through the Data Tab is that they will refresh in Excel Online on SharePoint Online.

Power Query connections produce an error message in my experience (Even the OData Connection through Power Query.)

There is a 10mb limit on viewing Excel Workbooks in SharePoint Online.  For that reason, I am looking to filter OData results as well, and would greatly appreciate any tips if anyone knows how to.
