slide tiles until you find Microsoft Office and or Access, Excel or Word....and the year is part of the title..... or in traditional mode from the Start button look for All Programs and do the same thing...
one can have Office without Access because Access is only in the higher cost Professional Suite - so you do have to figure out if it is there...Access can be bought stand alone....
since you say it is a new device then it will be 2013 or nothing - would be my guess.
to buy it one goes to the Microsoft web site and follow their instructions - it is a download of the product which is essentially a full working timed trial but what you receive is the long product code which is critical.....and makes it permanent....

Hi Nora,
As suggested above, to verify whether you have a specific application installed on your Windows 8 computer, you can scroll the Start Screen from left to right, see if you can find the tiles (Access 2010/Access 2013).
Another way to find a program Tile or Shortcut is to simply use the Windows 8 Search function. All you have to do is start typing the program name directly on the Windows 8 Start Screen. Typing on the Start Screen invokes the search function.
For more information about how to buy/try Microsoft Access, you can refer to this website: https://products.office.com/en-us/access
Hope it helps.
