When I drag any Outlook item (or any office document) to the Outlook journal folder I get a new journal entry with a link to the Outlook item. This link can be moved into the notes field of any other Outlook item. I love it to have such links.

Is it possible to get this links another way? Inserting something? VBA?

I'm not quite sure if I have understood you correctly. When you say "link to the Outlook item", do you mean the shortcut of the Outlook item?

For example:

If this is the case, I don't aware of any other way to obtain these "links" with any built-in options in Outlook. We probably need some VBA scripts to achieve this.

In Outlook 2013, we've made some changes to the Journal feature. Journal doesnt appear on the ribbon in the new Navigation Bar. The default special folder for Journal still exists and can be selected from the Folders view in the Folder Pane. In Outlook Options, the Notes and Journal is removed. The Journal Options button and related dialog box are no longer available.

"What happens with this links when changing pst-file?" - Journal entries are stored in your Outlook data file, you'd like to change your .pst file, you need to make a backup copy of these entries.

Yes, that's what I mean. Linking Outlook PIM items each with other  is one of the most powerful options in Outlook.

I tried to make such links in VBA, but the only way I found was like

SendKeys "^+y{home}j{enter}"

Not the best method for such a powerful feature.

Concerning Outlook 2013 it seems that using journal will be no more supported (especially the automated filling of the journal by sending and receiving E-Mails). It's a pity to see how MS continues in removing key features in his office applications.

Changing the pst-file means: When a described link contains the name or the location of a pst-file, the link will no more work, when I change file name or location. Moreover I'm afraid the link contains the outlook-object-ID. So when changing the pst-file by copying items (from Outlook 97-2002 to the current format, this seems the only way) all such links get lost.

Probably, you might want to try in the Outlook for developer forum and see if anyone there can provide a better method.
