Since you mentioned about internet connector, I assume that you are using SBS 2003, please correct me if I have misunderstood it
If you are using SBS 2003, please the articles below to configure the SBS server:

Yes, MX record has to be set up, the article below will help:

I see. Its a pure exchange 2003 environment
If you have a small or middle size exchange organization, we can use IMW (Internet Mail Wizard) to configure the internet mail access, please follow the Internet Mail Wizard section in Transport and Message Flow Features of Exchange Server 2003
If you have a large or complex exchange organization, please follow the Manually Configuring Your Exchange Server for Internet Mail Delivery section in Exchange Server 2003 Transport and Routing Guide

It's a single Exchange 2003 server.Yes I figured that out. I need to use "Internet Mail Wizard" & will need to specify probabbly public DNS of ISP's.
Do you have any link with snapshots of Internet Mail Wizard steps? I am actually going reverse to solve DNS problem. In event logs some times my exchange throws DNS error of of ISP's. My doubt is that the specified DNS while configuring Internet Mail Wizard are different than which we updated another DNS IP's of same ISP some months back. As building Exchange is not my everyday task I cant remember those steps.
Regards,
Amey.
