How to restore a mailbox database to a RSG on a different Exchange 2007 server
I cannot find anywhere on the net about how to do this. Does anyone know the steps necessary for restoring a mailbox database to a RSG on another Exchange 2007? I first read this might be possible at the following location: http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Working-Recovery-Storage-Groups-Exchange-2007.html "Finally you should note that although it’s possible to add a restored mailbox database to an RSG on another Exchange 2007 server, it’s important to understand that the Exchange 2007 server must belong to the same Active Directory forest." But I can't find instructions on how to do it. Whenever I create a RSG on an Exchange 2007 server a. Toolbox - Database Recovery Managementb. Choose "Create a recovery storage group"c. Then I need to select the storage group to link with the Recovery Storage Group. Here it will give me the server name where I'm creating the RSG (and it cannot be changed), and the list of the Storage Groups on the same server.d. The next screen will give me the options on where to put the Recovery Storage Group logs, system folders, and database folders and files No where does it give me the option to create a RSG for a server other than the one I'm on. Any ideas? Thanks, Bill.
