How to restric multi-mailbox searches
Hi,
I have created a mailbox search in my org. I have to give access to a user to run the search but I dont want them to be able to modify or create new searchs. Only run the existing one.
Any thoughts?
Thanks

You can find general information here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd335072.aspx
To get more granular, you need to look at RBAC (Role Based Access Controls), and that varies depending on the version of Exchange. What version are you using?

Hi Sam,
Please post the search cmdlet which you created for the user.
However, I'm afraid you cannot do that--Only run the existing one.
RBAC can be used to control user to run specific cmdlet with specific parameters. But you cannot control the value of the parameter the user will set.

Thanks Frank. I terrified the user enough by saying if you change the settings here it could crash the whole mail system. A tiny white lie but until I figure out a better way of securing the searches it will have to do.
